5 YearWorkmanship Warranty
Professional restoration, backed by a clear workmanship guarantee.
GC Grout Masters provides a 5-year workmanship warranty on eligible work completed by us.
Our warranty is there to give you confidence that the grout, epoxy grout and silicone we install has been applied with care and professional workmanship.
The warranty covers defects caused by our workmanship. It does not cover failures caused by underlying building issues, existing defects or conditions outside the work we performed.
What our warranty covers — and what it doesn't.
What's covered
Where an eligible workmanship defect is confirmed, our 5-year workmanship warranty may cover:
- Grout installed by GC Grout Masters that fails due to workmanship
- Epoxy grout installed by GC Grout Masters that fails due to workmanship
- Silicone or flexible joints installed by GC Grout Masters that fail due to workmanship
- Rectification of the affected area where the issue is confirmed to result from our workmanship
The warranty applies only to the areas and work completed by GC Grout Masters.
What isn't covered
Our workmanship warranty does not cover issues caused by circumstances outside our work, including:
- Failed or damaged waterproofing membranes
- Plumbing leaks or plumbing defects
- Structural or building movement
- Substrate movement or failure
- Loose, hollow, cracked or moving tiles
- Existing drainage or floor-fall problems
- Water ponding caused by existing falls
- Pre-existing damage or deterioration
- Failure of areas we did not work on
- Accidental damage
- Misuse or neglect
- Harsh or unsuitable cleaning chemicals
- Abrasive cleaning methods
- Pressure cleaning
- Failure to follow curing or aftercare instructions
- Work performed or altered by another contractor or person
- Normal deterioration resulting from conditions outside our workmanship
Regrouting and resealing are surface restoration services and do not replace failed waterproofing membranes, plumbing repairs or structural repairs.
Restoration can help — it isn't a guaranteed fix
Regrouting and resealing can assist where deteriorated grout or silicone is contributing to water entry. However, a leaking shower may continue to leak where the underlying cause is:
- Failed waterproofing
- Plumbing
- Structural movement
- Substrate failure
- Tile movement
- Drainage problems
- Another building defect
GC Grout Masters does not guarantee that surface resealing will resolve a leak caused by an underlying issue outside the work we perform.
Every bathroom starts from a different condition
We work with existing tiled surfaces, and the condition of those surfaces can vary considerably. Older or previously repaired areas may contain:
- Brittle tile edges
- Loose or hollow tiles
- Hard or difficult-to-remove grout
- Weakened substrates
- Existing cracks
- Hidden moisture damage
- Previous repairs
We use reasonable care and skill when removing grout and silicone. In some situations, completely removing existing grout — particularly very hard grout on wall tiles — may create an unreasonable risk of damaging the surrounding tiles. Where appropriate, GC Grout Masters may use an alternative restoration method rather than attempting unsafe full removal.
Built for demanding wet areas.
Where appropriate for the job, GC Grout Masters uses Mapei Kerapoxy epoxy grout. Epoxy grout is denser and less porous than traditional grout, offering greater resistance to staining, mould and water absorption. It is particularly well suited to shower floors and other demanding wet areas.
Epoxy grout improves the performance of the grout joint, but it is not a replacement for a waterproofing membrane and does not repair an underlying waterproofing defect.
Correct aftercare, from day one.
Correct aftercare is important for both the appearance and longevity of your restored area.
First 24 hours
Unless we tell you otherwise for your particular job, do not use the treated shower for at least 24 hours after completion. During this time:
- Keep the area dry
- Do not clean the new grout or silicone
- Do not expose the area to water
- Avoid touching or disturbing fresh silicone
Different materials or site conditions may occasionally require a longer curing period. If so, we will let you know.
General cleaning
For ongoing maintenance, we recommend:
- Regular light cleaning rather than allowing heavy build-up
- Mild bathroom cleaners suitable for the installed materials
- A soft sponge, cloth or soft-bristled brush
- Rinsing cleaning products away thoroughly
- Keeping the bathroom reasonably ventilated
Avoid overly aggressive cleaning methods.
Products & methods to avoid
To help protect your grout and silicone, avoid:
- Strong acidic cleaners
- Highly caustic chemicals
- Abrasive scourers
- Metal brushes
- Pressure cleaning
- Excessive or repeated use of strong bleach products
- Scraping silicone or grout with sharp tools
Always check that a cleaning product is suitable for your particular tiles, grout and silicone.
Mould & ventilation
New grout and silicone can still develop surface mould where moisture remains present for long periods. To help minimise mould:
- Use bathroom ventilation
- Allow the shower to dry between uses where practical
- Regularly clean soap and body-product residue
- Address mould early rather than allowing heavy build-up
Mould caused by environmental conditions or inadequate maintenance is not considered a workmanship defect.
If something isn't right, tell us.
If you believe there may be a problem with our workmanship, contact GC Grout Masters as soon as reasonably practical. Please provide:
- Your name
- The property address
- A description of the issue
- Photographs where possible
We may need reasonable access to inspect the affected area. If we confirm that the issue is an eligible workmanship defect, we will arrange an appropriate remedy.
Where reasonably possible, please allow GC Grout Masters the opportunity to inspect the issue before another contractor removes or alters the affected work. Third-party work can make it difficult to determine the original cause of a problem.
5 years. Clear conditions. No confusion.
Our warranty is designed to be straightforward: if our workmanship is the problem, we stand behind it.
If the issue is caused by waterproofing, plumbing, structural movement, existing tiles or another underlying building condition, that falls outside the scope of surface regrouting and resealing.
If you are unsure, contact us and we can assess the issue.
Our 5-year workmanship warranty is provided in addition to any rights and remedies available to you under the Australian Consumer Law.
Nothing on this page excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy that cannot legally be excluded.
