What causes it

The problem

Grout in a shower takes constant water, soap and movement. Over time it discolours, cracks or begins to crumble at the joints, and the shower starts to look tired even when the tiles themselves are in good condition.

Signs to look for
  • 01Cracked or missing grout
  • 02Grout that feels soft or crumbles when pressed
  • 03Persistent discolouration despite cleaning
  • 04Small gaps appearing along tile joints
  • 05A shower that still looks tired after cleaning
Our approach

How we solve it

Existing grout is removed to an appropriate depth where the tile and existing installation allow, the joints are prepared, and new grout is applied for a durable, colour-consistent finish suited to wet areas. The exact scope depends on your tiles and their condition — we'll talk you through what to expect before starting, and careful removal techniques are used throughout to minimise risk to surrounding tiles. Where appropriate, we'll also discuss epoxy grout as a longer-term option.

What you get
  • A shower that looks refreshed without a full renovation
  • Cleaner, sharper tile lines
  • Reduced visible mould build-up in grout joints
  • A more straightforward surface to keep clean day to day

How the job runs

The exact scope of work is confirmed in your quote — not every job needs every step.

01 / Assess

We assess the grout, silicone, tile condition and existing installation.

02 / Prepare

Deteriorated material is removed where appropriate and the area is prepared thoroughly.

03 / Restore

The selected grout system is applied, and silicone is replaced where included in the quoted scope.

Standards

What's behind the finish

Every regrouting job is scoped clearly before we start, carried out with materials suited to wet-area conditions, and finished with a clean, professional standard we're happy to stand behind.

Our workmanship is covered by a 5-year warranty. This covers the standard of our workmanship — it isn't a waterproofing warranty, and doesn't cover plumbing faults, structural movement, or damage caused by third-party work or lack of ordinary maintenance after completion.

See our Warranty & Aftercare page for full coverage, exclusions and aftercare information.

Before your appointment

Where possible, avoid using the shower for approximately 12 hours before scheduled work, so the area is dry and ready.

After your appointment

Allow approximately 24 hours after completion before using the shower, unless we've advised otherwise for the specific products used on your job.

FAQs

Regrouting questions

Most single showers are completed within a day, depending on size and condition. We'll confirm a timeframe after inspecting the job.

As a general guide, allow around 24 hours after completion — but we'll confirm exact timing for the specific products used on your job.

No. Regrouting improves the surface finish and joint condition of a shower. It isn't a repair for failed waterproofing membranes, plumbing faults or structural movement. If we suspect an issue beyond the surface, we'll be upfront about it before starting any work.

Not always. How much old grout can be removed depends on the tile type, grout condition and how the original installation was done. We'll assess this on site and explain what to expect for your specific shower.

Removing old grout carries some inherent risk of chipping, particularly where tiles or the existing installation are already weak or brittle. We use careful removal techniques to minimise this risk and will flag any concerns before starting — it's a reasonable thing to ask us about directly if your tiles are older.

It depends on how the shower is used and what you're after. Epoxy costs more but resists staining and moisture better, which can suit high-use bathrooms. We're happy to talk through which makes sense for you.
